My client is a top UK general insurer which has a GI life and insurance management arm. They are seeking to recruit a Head of Financial Risk Management.

This role is designed to:

• Provide a comprehensive service to the business including:
• Solvency management
• Financial risk management
• Proactively meeting the requirements of  Group, regulators and rating agencies 

• Being collectively responsible, as a member of the Finance Middle Office management team supporting the Financial Control Director, for developing and leading a Financial Risk Management function appropriate to the scale and ambitions of my client.

Reporting shareholder and statutory results

• Act as a centre of excellence for GI financial risk
• Provide regular and ad hoc reporting on investment performance
• Provide regular and ad hoc reporting on market risk, credit risk, derivatives and foreign exchange

Establishing a financial framework for the management of the balance sheet

• Formulate recommendations to the Executive Committee for investment strategies and policies
• Manage the solvency of the authorised GI companies in line with regulatory requirements, Group policy, and according to the needs of the business
• Manage the Credit, Derivatives, Market and FX risk position of the UKGI operations and ensure that exposures remain within appetite
• Design, implement and embed an asset and liability matching (ALM) framework that both fulfils regulatory obligations and supports optimal use of capital.

• Deputise for the Director of Capital and Financial Risk management, as required.
