The recipient of this hammer, Juan, helped with Habitat for Humanity in Alice, Texas. Newell hand engraved the location, year, and the name of the volunteer group with Habitat for Humanity, the Care-A-Vanners.
“The inlay was done in copper,” says Newell, “We had to remove the handle and reattach it later in order to work comfortably on my little workbench.”
Although this engraving was a friendly gesture, Newell picked up a project from another couple working with the Care-A-Vanners. Surely, this hand engraving will be a treasure in Juan’s tool chest for years to come.
